びょうせい【病勢】

the state of a disease; the condition of a patient.

●病勢があらたまる take a serious turn

・病勢がつのる[進む] grow worse; take a turn for the worse

・病勢がよほど進んでいる sb's condition is very serious [an advanced stage]; 〈人が主語〉 be far gone

・病勢が衰える sb's condition grows less serious; 〈人が主語〉 start to improve.

病勢昂進 exacerbation.
